Audio Visual Support: Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Tips

If the laptop image is not showing on the screen -- projector is displaying a blue screen or no image -- try:

  1. switch input control on the control panel
    wait 30 to 60 seconds
    switch input control back
  2. unplug the HDMI or VGA cable
    wait 30 to 60 seconds
plug in HDMI or VGA cable
  3. press the Windows key + P
use the mouse to select which output mode you require
PC screen only - will display only to the PC screen
Duplicate (Clone) -- will display the same image on both the laptop and the projection screen
Extended -- will display a second desktop image on the projection screen
Projector screen only - will display only to the LCD projector screen
  4. If the Windows key + P does not work there is an alternate method to force Duplicate and Extend display modes
    right click on the desktop
select from the menu display properties or Intel Graphics settings
the Intel display application will open
    select multiple displays
Duplicate (Clone) -- will display the same image on both the laptop and the projection screen
Extended -- will display a second desktop image on the projection screen

If there is no audio try:

  1. check that all on these controls have the volume enabled and turned up:
on the laptop  -- click on the speaker icon -- lower right
in the application -- usually lower left
on the podium control panel - turn volume dial until 4 or 5 red bars appear
  2. switch input control on the control panel on the podium
    wait 30 to 60 seconds
    switch input control back
  3. right click on the speaker Icon
    select playback devices
select the required playback device - for the classroom setups the Crestron should be listed
click on the Set Default button
  4. Sometimes, the browser does not detect the change in audio output when moving from the docking station to a classroom setup. Pressing F5 should refresh the browser to detect the change in audio output. If that does not fix the issue close the browser down and restart it.

The system should be set to HDMI input by default. HDMI is the preferred connection method as the image quality is better and no need for an extra connection for sound.

There is a VGA cable and separate audio cable if required.

Use the Volume dial on the far right of the panel to control the room volume. If the podium losses power or is unplugged the volume gets reset to zero. It takes a lot of turns to get all five bars to show. There is also a volume control on the laptop -- speaker in the lower right. Many applications like Youtube, VLC video player have a volume control. Note, sound does not work unless the system is turned on.

There is a separate volume control for the mic should it be installed.

Press the System OFF button to turn off the LCD projector.

Connector Cables:

The cable on the far left is the HDMI cable.

The two cables in the middle are the VGA and audio cables.

The cable on the far right is the network cable.
